About Us

Founded in 2014 as a spin-off of Applied Thermal Sciences, Inc., an aerospace and defense technology company incorporated in 1998, VALT is building an integrated U.S. capability spanning high-speed air-breathing and rocket propulsion, missile systems, automated domestic manufacturing, and flight-test infrastructure to accelerate the development and production of affordable hypersonic weapons.

Our vertically integrated model connects engineering, advanced manufacturing, propulsion development, ground testing, flight operations, and production scaling to accelerate development and reduce dependence on fragmented supply chains.

Through a distributed, multi-state test architecture, VALT is expanding access to progressively more complex flight-test environments—from early-stage research and development in Maine to extended overland flight testing and, ultimately, maritime and operationally representative test environments.

That capability is grounded in decades of hands-on test experience. Prior to VALT’s spin-off from Applied Thermal Sciences, the team had already completed 22 flight tests and hundreds of ground tests. Since 2021, VALT has conducted several hundred additional ground tests and more than 30 flight tests, reinforcing a development model built around frequent testing, rapid iteration, and data-driven maturation.

At the same time, we are expanding scalable U.S. production capacity to strengthen the defense industrial base and deliver critical propulsion and weapon systems at the speed and scale of national security demands.
